More About Me

I'm Marcelle, a trauma-informed therapist specializing in attachment-focused work with Black ad Brown Millennials and Gen Z adults and couples.

I help clients untangle long-standing relational patterns so they can build secure, authentic connections with themselves and the with the people in their lives.

Many of the clients I work with are thoughtful, high-functioning, and self-aware. On the outside, they may look like they got it together- managing careers, relationships, and responsibilities well. Internally, they may feel feel stuck in cycles of overgiving, emotional shutdown, anxiety, or relational conflict they can't quite explain.

That's where our work begins.

My Approach:

Therapy with me is relational, depth-oriented, and collaborative.

I integrate EMDR and attachment-based therapy including Gottman Therapy and Structural Family Therapy to help you move beyond insight and into meaningful emotional processing. We don't just talk about patterns- we work through them at their root.

Many relational struggles are not character flaws. They are adaptations- ways you learned to survive, stay connected, or protect yourself. Together, we slow down enough to understand those adaptations and gently shift what no longer serves you.

This work is intentional. It requires honesty, curiosity, and a willingness to look beneath the surface. And it creates lasting change.

Why I Do This Work:

As a Black woman, mom, wife, and therapist, I understand the complexity of navigating identity, expectations, family roles, and relational dynamics- especially when cultural context is layered into the experience.

My work is rooted in honoring lived experience while also helping you challenge the patterns that keep you small, disconnected, or overwhelmed.

You don't have to explain everything here. You definitely don't have to code-switch. You for sure don't have to minimize your story.

You do have to be willing to grow.

My Training and Experience:

I am a Certified EMDR Therapist as well as trained in Gottman Therapy and Structural Family Therapy. I lean into attachment-based modalities that support trauma processing and relational repair. My work is informed by an understanding of how early experiences shape nervous system responses, relationship patterns, and self-concept.

I specialize in:

  • Trauma and complex trauma

  • Attachment wounds

  • Relationship and communication patterns

  • Identity development and self-worth

  • Couples seeking deeper connection and repair

Therapy with me is not surface-level coping work. It's structured, thoughtful, and tailored to the goals you bring into the room.

Who This Work Is For:

This work is best suited for individuals and couples who:

  • Want more than short-term system relief

  • Are ready to understand their relational patterns

  • Value culturally responsive care

  • Are open to deeper emotional processing

  • Are willing to actively engage in growth

If you're looking for quick fixes or passive support, we may not be the best fit.

If you're ready for meaningful change, we might be.

A Final Word:

Therapy is a vulnerable investment. I don't take lightly the trust it requires.

If you're ready to explore your patterns with honesty, build more secure connections, and engage in intentional relational work, I welcome you to schedule a consultation.
