A LITTLE ABOUT ME...

The most important part of therapy is the relationship and I work hard to connect with my clients so they know this is a space where they can feel heard, cared for, and understood. This isn’t just a job for me. You are trusting and sharing with me parts of your personal life and I don't take that lightly.

I believe that my current and past clients would tell you that some of my strengths would be my listening skills, my sense of humor, and my persistence to have you feel empowered. I validate my clients' experiences to remind them to be kind to themselves while also holding them accountable for their missteps. I'm like that best friend who will cheer you on with a strong "YASSS!" while still pushing you to be your higher self... all with therapeutic boundaries of course. *wink*

But I'm more than just a friendly face to talk to. I am a Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist and I have also been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Structural Family Therapy (SFT), and Motivational Interviewing. I use techniques from these among other therapeutic approaches to help you reach your goals and learn new ways of finding what works for you. This is all tailored to you (your personality, your concerns, and your desires). That of course means you being an active participant and ready to do the "work". Understand that sometimes therapy doesn't immediately make people feel better. That's normal. Compare it to when you start doing anything new. It can be tough. But know that it gets easier as you continue to work through it and practice good habits. And you're not alone. You have support from me, your therapist. Therapists aren't fairy godmothers; more like your Google Maps while you're in the driver's seat. So buckle up and let's put this in drive!

I have been practicing therapy since 2008 and a licensed therapist since 2013 with the Board of Behavioral Services (California LMFT #53944). I am also licensed with the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council (Texas LMFT #205207). Although I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both California and Texas, I currently reside near Houston, Texas. Before Texas, I lived in New York City which allowed me to expand experience beyond therapy with other social service opportunities as well as additional context and skills to my work as a therapist. You can see information about my education and training through my LinkedIn
